It’s finally snowing and is beginning to feel like Christmas. The snow is so beautiful.

I added a little bit of a winter vibe to my hutch

I added a little bit of a winter vibe to my hutch today. A little red and green. Some fresh greenery that I clipped from around my house and the woods in my backyard.
I almost painted this hutch after I bought it, but I’m so glad I didn’t. I have been loving the cottagecore aesthetic the past couple of years and I am finding myself drawn to wood tones as opposed to painted furniture. I’m working on swapping out the “all white and cream” that I had before to a more cozy and inviting space. I love seeking out vintage and thrifted items rather than buying things up all at once. I prefer to allow my space to be personalized and evolve over time. It adds so much charm and interest.

This is my definition of rest. I need time to crea

This is my definition of rest. I need time to create things with my hands. Whether its gardening, building, painting or cooking. I feel frustrated when I am away from home often or unable to have creative time. It’s just how I’m built i guess. I don’t enjoy big parties or loud places with crowds. Gossip and small talk is dreadful for me. I don’t bother with Netflix shows or pop culture. But I love being inspired by other creative types, I love talking about things that really matter or listening to stories from old men and women who have wisdom to share. I love to learn about nature, read old books and dream and play.

I’m so grateful there were no smart phones when I was young and spent time with my grandma, otherwise I may have not taken the time to pay attention when she showed me how to crochet or told me stories of her youth. It makes me think of her and soothes my mind to pick up yarn and make things. I feel like she gave me a gift that will live on even though I can no longer be with her.

There was a time where I loved living the city lif

There was a time where I loved living the city life, the hustle and the bustle of Manhattan. I loved the energy, the noise, the people, the fast pace. I have changed. I live in a rural area now and love it here. I love the quiet, the slow pace, nature, the solitude. I feel a sense of peacefulness in my soul. I wake to the sound birds chirping, and am lulled to sleep by crickets at night. I listen to the wind through the trees, feel the breeze through my hair and the earth beneath my bare feet. I feel free.
