How to Make Fire Cider
Ingredients
1 red onion
2 garlic heads
1 organic lemon sliced
1/2 cup fresh ginger root sliced
1/2 cup fresh turmeric root sliced
1/2 cup horseradish grated
5 sprigs thyme
1 tsp black peppercorns
2 jalapeño peppers sliced
3 sprigs rosemary
1/4 cup dried calendula flowers (optional)
5 anise stars
1 stick cinnamon
1/4 cup dried rose hips
1/4 cup dried elderberries
Organic raw apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup of raw honey (or to taste)
Instructions
Cut and chop herbs, fruit and vegetables. Layer in a sterilized quart-sized mason jar (I use Ball jars). Once all of your ingredients are beautifully placed in the jar, pour the apple cider vinegar into your jar to the top. Be sure your ingredients are completely submerged in the vinegar. Seal your jar with a tightly fitting lid. You can place a piece of parchment paper underneath to prevent rusting. Store your jar in a dark cool place for 4-6 weeks. Shake your jar each day. After 4-6 weeks you will strain your mixture with a fine mesh strainer into a clean jar. Press firmly to really extract the liquid. The herbs and vegetables left behind can be composted. Whisk in honey until combined. Place an airtight lid on the jar and store in a cool, dark place for a few months.
Take 1-2 teaspoons when needed.
